Winding Down In Varadero

Winding Down In Varadero

After pounding over 1,200km of Cuba's highway, with our daily walk averaging 7.5km, Royalton Hiscacos Varadero was where we came to rest and do nothing at all. It was all food, cocktails, more cocktails, spa, and the only time we ventured out of the resort, a rock cover concert at The Beetles bar.

Cruising through Varadero at sunset in this open top beauty is probably the highlight of my stay. The very friendly driver turned up the volume of the song playing on the radio, shared his cookies with me, "one for you, one for me, we share", and maybe sensing moments like that is what I live for, he drove so slowly. Palm trees on the left, the sunset illuminated sea on the right, wind in my hair and a smile on my face, we rode.

Ciao Cuba!
