Ceviche

Hadn't been to church in such a long time so I tagged along my brother and his fiancée to Hillsong Church in the West End. Service was short but I was starving by the time we were done at 12:15. I then dragged them to this Peruvian place I had been dying to try.

Okay I must confess, I almost stopped at La Bodega Negra, which is my go to restaurant/cafe around that area.

We got to Ceviche, they were able to accommodate us without a reservation but we were told they'd be needing the table back in 2 hours.

We started off with the Yucas, which is pretty much cassava chips, and the oh-so-divine Pork Chifa Tequeños. It was so good I could have eaten it all lunch and not had anything else.

Next was the Ensalada de Quinoa, recommended by the waiter. I've never had Quinoa because I think it is just couscous' big brother. And I don't care for couscous. Surprisingly it wasn't bad, worked really well with the avocado coriander and lime chilli vinigrette.

And then the Seabass. The others didn't fancy it because it was really cold but I loved it. Wiped out the plate in under 15 seconds.

Octopus, prawns, clams, scallops and mussels. I didn't let anyone's fork get within an arm's length of this one.

The first warm dish and it was good.

By the time the Baile De Gallina came I was stuffed. This has chicken, pecans, amarrillo chilli, parmesan and warm potato mash.

The Panza & Higo, pork belly with figs, was the most popular dish.

I did feel guilty having a drink straight after church but it wouldn't be right to not have a Pisco Sour here. The compromise? I stuck to just one glass and it was just perfect!

A quick bathroom selfie and we called it a day. Made my way home to snuggle under the duvet with warm rum while the love birds went down Oxford Street for some shopping.
