Yacht Week Greece: Day 1
Our flight landed Athens shortly before 4am and we checked into Sofitel Athens right next to the terminal. Didn't get much sleep as we excitedly talked about the coming week.
Then the hunt for Hennessy and sim card began. We had to beg our way (with used boarding passes) back into the departure lounge to get the sim cards. And begged some more to have a passenger with a boarding pass get some Henny on our behalf.
Armed with our booze we got a taxi and headed out to Lavrio port around 2:30. It was a 30 minute ride to Aqua Cafe where most crew members had arrived and were seriously knocking back booze.
Ivie, Khadijah, Chioma and birthday girl Phatsi.
Spent the next couple of hours sorting out the check in of both boats and grocery shopping.
Enjoyed the welcome speech and introduction of the skippers and TYW crew, we were basically promised the best week of our lives.
The welcome dinner and party was at Cavo Pouda and I heard a number of the skippers say it was the most insane welcome party of the route. I mean, I was dancing on a table in bikini. Awesome!
Kels, Phatsi, Lyn, Me, Chioma, Juwee and Ivie
Akshita, an absolute darling!
Knowing the next day was going to be the most difficult with long sailing hours, I didn't have a lot to drink and was back in bed by 4am.
