In Love With Journaling

I always kept a diary when I was much younger, many of which I still have in my bed side drawer and go through ever so often. Somehow I just never managed to continue as an adult but after a very eventful 2014 and 2015 I promised myself i'll get a journal and start writing again in 2016. January came around and I still didn't get a journal but I picked up a super amazing book that not only made me want to start writing but also gave me a direction.

"How much money does it take to quit your job"?

Janice Macleod, author of Paris Letters, asked herself that very question. If she quit her job and took off to travel the world, how much money will she need? With a little maths, a journal and a list of 100 ways to save/cut costs, she set herself the task of doing so. This is one easily one of my favourite books, and I encourage you to get it if you haven't already. It is a mix of Paris travelogue, romance and self-help book.

So, Janice plus a really terrible news in February made me pick up a journal and a pen. Two journals actually - one for everyday life and the other for chronicling the parts of my travels that I am not able to put on the internet.

I have been writing, asking questions, figuring out the answers and then doing what needs to be done. It helped me fight off anxiety the past couple of weeks and I really just enjoy pouring my heart out on paper.

From romance in Paris to Italy with Marleni De Blasi's books on falling in love with a Venetian and lots of Italian recipes I am dying to try out this spring.
