To Ra, For The Sunset In Egypt
The ancient Egyptian culture was centred around the pantheon of gods and revelled in their glory and worship. One of the most important amongst these gods was Ra, the god of sun, the main god of the ancient Egyptians who was believed to have created all forms of life. He was initially joined with the god Horus, depicted as a man's body with the head of a hawk with an ankh and a sceptre in his hands. Later during the New Kingdom Ra was merged with Amun, the hidden god, to become Amun Ra, the king of gods which is depicted as man's body with the head of a ram.
Sailing the Nile for 4 nights, away from the history, monuments and people watching, my favourite thing was watching the sun come up and go down from the sundeck. I love sunrises, I love sunsets, but I’m more likely to catch the latter because I’m a late riser.
So, with a glass of rum and coke in hand most evenings I tried to capture some incredible Egyptian sunsets.
Egypt is a nation of chaotic cities, warm people, unique history and photogenic landscape.
